Julia and Shelby radiate joy. To be with them is to be comforted, assured, and affirmed. Together, they're unstoppable. What a gift it was to celebrate this wedding day with these two and their chosen family! As a queer person, having a hand in a queer love story is life-giving, and let me tell you I GOT MY LIFE seeing these two commit to be each other's person! There wasn't a dry eye in the room during the wedding ceremony and not a face without a smile as they were pronounced as wives, even when we had to move inside for rain at the last minute! I've been to plenty of weddings, but even I found myself emotional when Shelby and Julia read their vows to each other. I especially saw myself in Shelby's words. "I've always had a love-hate relationship with the phrase 'it's always been you'. If it had always been you, I would have accepted myself by loving you so much sooner." This is the story for so many of us who sometimes can't see a future for ourselves that involves the love that we deserve, regardless of race, gender, sexuality, or anything that may divide us.
