Wedding Date on Oct 27, 2018

My husband and I met on a blind date at a Chili's in 2011. Put on by our friends in hopes of setting us up as dates for our senior proms. We met that night, went to our proms together...and the rest is history. We started dating young, living out our senior summer in bliss, and then I was off to Assumption College in Worcester, MA for the next 4 years. We were nervous about the challenges of a long-distance relationship but we were determined to make it work. We were actually known as Mama + Papa Hen by our friends on campus; so safe to say we did a great job with the whole long-distance thing! After college was amazing because we finally got to form a life and routine together. A few years go by, and in January 2017 we go adventuring to the Ice Castles with our friends Joe & Alexis. We're walking around the Ice Castles, they're glowing bright, soft music is playing and we come up to an archway and decide to snap a couple's shot. We lean in close, I felt his warm breath on my ear and I remember feeling in that moment just so happy + content. Then I hear Josh's heart beating extra loud and I looked up at him, he kissed my forehead...then he kissed it again, and I knew...he got down on one knee, and I said "Are you serious!?" he smiled and popped the question. The question I oh so, not so, patiently waited for, for 6 years. Hey, when you know, you know. Our families were just as excited as we were!Planning our wedding was a series of blessings. There were continuous signs that we were mean't to be. The first of many, was winning my Maggie Sottero gown (insert gasp) via their Startstruck Romance Pinterest Sweepstakes!!! #speechless Wound up with the Petra from the Maggie Sottero Collection. Just saying, try on everything because I thought for sure I'd say "yes" to all lace, and that dress is head to toe beading! Then I got an advertisement for a Cooking demo with a reward of 2 free wedding bands on the table. So we went, and don't ya know we got those bands? Tungsten though, so Josh got to pick 2...but don't you worry we were lucky with my bling too.Enough with the small talk, before we knew it the day was here. October 27, 2018 at Crystal Lake Golf Club in Mapleville, RI...It was a rather rainy morning. That's right it rained! But it was NO PROBLEM, seriously guys don't stress. Bottom line we have no control over mother nature so *don't stress, and enjoy your day* It also helped that our amazing photographer offered up her services for a post-wedding shoot, so we could get some epic outdoor shots. Rain and all, the day could not have gone more perfectly. Crystal Lake's coordinator, Tracy, and her staff did an incredible job bringing our ceremony inside and ensuring that there was plenty of room for our 215 guests. They also did a great job with turning over the ceremony space into the other half of our reception room, without taking away from our experience. We were having too much fun dancing, laughing and celebrating to worry about any rain! The night came to an end and we could not have asked for a better time. Post Party was at Laura's Bar and Grill, which was conveniently located in the parking lot of the hotel. What a whirl wind of a day; when they say it flies by, they aren't lying. My biggest take away from our wedding day is, prepare and plan but release all attachment to outcomes on the things that are out of your control. And when you sit to eat your dinner, stop and use all of your senses to take in the view. After our wedding were off to Punta Cana for our honeymoon, which was actually our first "real" vacation together. We had a blast adventuring this new, warm, exciting place. Life was Good. Then Josh spent Halloween barfing into the toilet. We've narrowed it down to either bad booze or a questionable chicken burger. But Josh rallied and got to enjoy the rest of our stay. Back to reality, our pup Trixie was most excited for this part of the honeymoon, the whole coming home part. Maybe a week or so after coming home Josh started to feel a little funky...and then something finally made us pull the trigger on heading to the hospital. He soon became known as the man with the rare blood clotting disorder that got e-coli from a questionable chicken burger. Needless to say Josh could have taken the whole "In sickness and health" vow a tad to literally in the beginning. Happy to report we are all here now, a year later, happy and healthy! Becoming Megan Davis was the most exciting, and seemingly natural journey I've ever experienced. With dreams of a house + baby on the horizon, we live each day loving on and working through life's challenges, happily together. Cheers to whatever the future brings! Thanks for reading our story, Meg + Josh Davis
