Joel and Kathryn took us on a yearlong adventure. It started the day Kathryn agreed to marry Joel on an overlook of the Tennessee River on a gorgeous hot summer evening in August. It continued mid winter, walking along the trails along Lookout Mountain to be near waterfalls and the last falling leaves of the season before the spring could come. It ended with a promise in the Cherokee National Forest; a promise to live and love together and to never forget what brought them to that promise. Kathryn and Joel were the silliest couple we’ve ever filmed. The are the most themselves when they are doing impressions, fake falling, twerking, or cross-eyed. But in the midst of all those candids we got (and if you follow our Insta stories you know we can’t stop posting the outtakes to save our lives) we were able to get something we don’t often have the opportunity to get: a glimpse into everyday life. From the phone call nicknames, to the goofy selfie shots, Joel and Kathryn let us in on who they are and how they interact, with love, silliness and explosions of joy all around them. After lots of changes, they planned a wedding completely from scratch and in our opinion, it could not have been more perfect. On a mountaintop with the most breathtaking views overlooking more than three states, Kathryn and Joel married in an intimate and faith-filled ceremony. There was no reception, no speeches, just the closest and most precious souls witnessing who they really were. A perfect parallel to what we were able to witness: these two without pretense, in love and silliness, welcoming the beginning of their future with explosions of joy all around them.
