Story from the bride herself! We have actually known of each other for years. Our younger brothers are best friends and used to play hockey together. Chris says he remembers he always used to see me when I worked at the arena and also when we were both over at the Smith’s household hanging out with our friends he would always notice me there but it wasn’t until 2014 when we really became friends. I was looking for someone to attend a concert with me and he reached out saying he was interested. About a month after that concert things just grew! How did he or she propose? We were on a mini weekend vacation in Toronto in December 2017. On our last day (the last 3 hours there prior to getting on the train to head home), we were in ‘The Beaches’ which is a neighborhood east of the city. After finally finding a pair of skate shoes that Chris had been searching around Toronto for, the plan was to go visit his aunt and uncle who live in that area. He asked if I wanted to walk down to the beach for a bit, which was about 5 minutes from his relative’s place. I am not a fan of the cold so I had zero interest in going to the beach of all places. He knows I love getting/taking photos so he convinced me to go down to the beach by saying we could ‘take some pictures there’. While at the beach, he lead me to an area in the sand where there is a break wall and you can see the Toronto skyline. We took some photos of ourselves and then he asked me to stand with my back to him, facing out at the skyline so he could take a photo of me. Shivering cold I agreed. As I stood with my back to him waiting for the ‘okay’ to turn back around, he said my name in full which I thought was odd because he doesn’t normally do that. I turned around to him down on one knee as he asked me to marry him. Just afterwards, we celebrated next to the fireplace with glasses of champagne courtesy of his aunt and uncle, almost as if they knew this was going to happen but they had no idea! I gawked at my ring the whole train ride home. Their wedding was special because I've known both of them for years growing up in the same town. There was so much laughter and love you can almost see hearts floating around them the entire day!
