We don't make a habit of filming weddings in the rain, but this one was a fun exception to that. There's nothing better than a couple who takes whatever comes at them (even if it's torrential downpour) and fully embraces it. It encourages us to do the same, and makes for moments that can't be staged. When Holly & Austin's wedding came along, there had been weeks of constant rain in the Houston area, but the skies were beautiful and blue on this particular Saturday afternoon, despite weather forecasts that predicted otherwise. The rain managed to stay away all morning, and they decided to move forward with the outdoor ceremony. It wasn't until moments before the ceremony that thunder and dark clouds started to move in - but Holly and Austin decided to just go for it. The stringed quartet packed up and found cover, and the wedding party walked up the aisle to the sound of thunder and a few family members humming accompaniments with smiles on their face. There was a light sprinkle in the air, and we managed to cover our cameras from the elements, which required losing our vests and cardigans for a bit. Half-way through the vows though, the rain came down at full force. The crowd stood up, the minister announced them husband and wife, and they ran through a tunnel of family who cheered them on, laughing as they all ran towards cover. Some could consider this a negative mark on their wedding day, but it set such an amazing tone for the rest of the night. Everyone was carefree, smiling and enjoying the night from that point on. We loved watching Holly & Austin embrace the romance and joy in the moment, and we're just glad we found a way to capture it all.
