Heather and Mike got engaged in front of a waterfall in South Iceland. On that trip, they fell in love with the country. When we first met them, they told us that Iceland offered "solitude and the ability to really connect with each other, ourselves, and everything around us." As they started planning their big, traditional wedding, they began to realize that something wasn't right. They didn't want to say their vows in front of a crowd, and they wanted to be able to focus all of their attention on each other and their commitment. So they canceled their wedding and decided to elope in Iceland. We spent four days exploring with Heather and Mike. We drove almost 900 miles across Iceland together, sharing Airbnb rentals, eating hot dogs and Icelandic candies, stopping at every field of purple lupines, and admiring every waterfall. On our second day together, they got married in the black church in Budir, and then said their personal vows to each other later that day in a lava field. On our final day together, we returned to Reykjavik and they both got Icelandic stave tattoos. On this trip, Heather and Mike became so much more than just clients for us, they became true friends.
