A luxury shoot aimed to inspire and highlight disabled/interabled couples to be seen and heard in the wedding industry.
When I found myself disabled, engaged and planning my own wedding, I couldn’t find one inspirational shoot that featured any kind of disability. And when I reached out to fellow disabled couples I found the story didn’t stop there. Couples were fighting to find bridal boutiques with wheelchair access, or gowns that fit their bodies or wedding venues with disabled access. They felt unrepresented and invisible. We decided to BE the change we wanted to see in the world, because representation MATTERS.
We contacted Zebedee Talent Management, and found Georgina and Rafi, who could not have been more perfect! As a team we decided to go big, refusing to allow any of their disabilities limit our creativity, only enhance it! Romina designed the most beautiful gown that could be comfortable worn in the wheelchair. The Country Garden Florist designed floral pieces to surround the chair, and Elizabeth Terzza created custom accessories from recycled gold. Events by Keenda took a neutral colour palette with gold accents, and designed an Italian inspired table scape to match the venue. And for extra luxury, Roisin Reuss sent us lingerie and a bridal robe for a stunning bridal prep shoot.
This styled shoot was held at the stunning, Italianate style mansion of Bourton Hall in Warwickshire. Surrounded by twelve acres of gardens, woodland and endowed with stunning views across rolling countryside, Bourton Hall was the perfect venue to set the scene for our couple. The bridal suite exuded luxury with a four-posted bed; ample space with plenty of natural light and furnished beautifully. The couple were captured having private moments on the chaise lounge, the balcony and there is also an overhead iconic shot of their stairwell of the bride and her beautiful dress spread out.
This is more than a shoot, it’s a message and beacon of hope to bring disability awareness to the forefront of the wedding industry and inspire couples and fellow suppliers to become advocates of the inclusion revolution movement. We are planning a whole campaign to bring about change to highlight and increase the representation of disabled couples, so this is just the beginning.
