From the bride, Emily: Our journey hasn't been the easiest on either of us. After I graduated high school in 2014, my parents moved to Dallas and I went off to school at Texas State. Teddy started his senior year and after many FaceTime calls, we'd get to see each other in person about once every couple of months. Then as he neared the end of high school in 2015, Teddy chose to go to University of Houston to pursue engineering so the long distance persisted. After a semester, he made the decision that University of Houston wasn't the best fit for him so he transferred to Texas State in the spring of 2016 in order to pursue accounting (and admittedly me). I was SO excited to have him in the same city as me since high school. 2016/ together again That year, Teddy joined me in becoming a Young Life leader, and started to spend his summers working at a Laity Lodge Youth Camp. We got to be neighbors and live on the same street as all of our best friends while we took on college and life together. It was definitely a sweet time. 2017/ summer lovin' and the future begins 2017 was an exciting year for both of us as I finished up my time at Texas State, took a trip to Colorado with Teddy's grandparents, and both got to work at Laity Lodge as counselors all summer. Teddy worked at the younger camp, Singing Hills, and I worked at Echo Valley with middle and high school aged girls. There's something special about the Frio Canyon that made that summer our most memorable one yet. It's definitely a place we'll come back to for a lifetime. 2018/ growing into forever After I took the plunge into the San Marcos river in December of 2017, another year of long distance dating began and 2018 turned out to be the most challenging, edifying, and sweetest year yet for us. I moved home to Student Teach in Fulshear, and Teddy was pushing to graduate as fast as possible. In the summer, Teddy and I went back to the Frio Canyon to work at camp for what we though might be one last summer at LLYC. It turns out that we were right. I shifted roles into Canyon Club taking care of camp staff's kiddos, and Teddy continue to build memories in Cabin 7 at Singing Hills. I left halfway through summer to start my career as a teacher in Katy while Teddy finished out summer and geared up for his last semester of college. I think that last semester felt like an eternity! 2019 / this starts forever I couldn't be more lucky, excited, and blessed that Teddy gets to be my teammate for life. He challenges me, encourages me, and points me towards Jesus every single day. He leads by example, constantly striving to better himself. I know he will be such an amazing husband, and eventually father one day! I am beyond proud of all he's accomplished this far in life and I can't wait to cheer him on forever.
