Cole and I actually met through work. We work for the same company but we in different offices. I was in Atlanta, GA and she was in Birmingham, AL. An upcoming conference was coming up and one of mutual friends, also in the Birmingham office, said that she wanted to introduce the two of us. Little did I know, before the conference Cole looked at my Instagram and immediately told everyone that she was going to marry me. When conference came around, we were introduced and the entire encounter was about 30 seconds before our two groups got separated and we didn't see each other the entire weekend.
The next week at work, I got news that I was going to get to move to Vancouver, BC to open a new office there in about 1 month. I threw a going away party for the big move to Canada and invited Cole and our mutual friend. Cole wasn't able to make it and looked me up in our company system to get my number to let me know. From there, we couldn't stop talking - through the move and a busy time at work. After a few months, Cole invited me to her office Christmas party and I invited to her to mine. With mine being international, Cole had to get her first passport. In a few weeks, she did and that's when I knew she was serious :)
After spending that time together, the holidays, and some long distance, COVID hit. Luckily, I was able to come back to the US and get some time together. Because of that time, we got to know each other quickly and we knew that we were in life together.
I proposed to Cole during a sunrise hike. Cole proposed to me in my favorite art museum. When talking about our wedding, we always wanted to do something with just the two of us. Knowing that Cole would be moving to Vancouver, we were planning something in that area to represent us. At the start, we wanted to make the most investment in incredible photographers and videographers - and we found Candice our photographer and she highly recommended Maclean and Erin from Hello Tomorrow Films. We found an airbnb in Squamish to get ready in, found cheaper dresses, did our own hair and makeup, and used a helicopter service to take us to the mountain glaciers for our vows. We loved the entire day because it was just the two of us, with no care in the world. We got ready, went to the helicopter, landed on top of a glacier, exchanged 4 minute vows, then got to play in the snow on a hot summer day - it was perfect. Our photo and video teams were amazing and made us feel so comfortable and supported on our day.
