From the bride, Devin: "We met on our birthright trip to Israel in 2014. I can’t believe that was more than 6 years ago! We had the most epic 10 day adventure traveling through Israel, and it was such an incredible experience and what a whirlwind! I actually wasn’t single when we met, and I felt this insane connection between us that I was actually a bit scared of. We just meshed so well on so many different levels. I would actually have my best friend try to intervene and make sure we weren’t ever alone together because I just knew there was something there I had never felt before. Gabe felt it too, and we had this chemistry on the trip that everyone noticed. We ended up becoming best friends on that trip. After the trip we got together to see if it was just the crazy Israel adventure or if the connection we had actually transferred to real life. The first time we met up post Israel, we both were actually so surprised that it felt the exact same as when we were traveling. Shortly after we started dating. We were together for 4 years before we moved in together and 5 years before we got engaged. We actually broke up one summer not too long into dating. We both dated other people, and tried to stop talking....it didn’t work. I would go on a date and constantly compare it to what I would be doing and how much more fun I would be having with Gabe. At the end of the summer we came back together and went on a date. At the restaurant it all quickly clicked back into place like we never parted. We were sipping wine, laughing, talking about the adventures we will go on next together. Gabe was across the table laughing about something, telling me a story, and at that moment it just came to me. I could do this every day for the rest of my life, and I would feel so insanely content. I don’t need anything else. And that’s when I knew." These two had a big outdoor wedding planned, but Covid had other plans. They ended up having an intimate outdoor ceremony with just immediate family present in July, and then having a smaller reception held at Devin's family beach house in Seaside, OR in September. It all came together beautifully and these two are just the sweetest humans in the world. A note from Devin about getting married during Covid times: " It only took 6 years and 2 long ones as an engaged couple. This has all been so crazy, and COVID has truly kicked our asses (and not just wedding wise). Yesterday we didn’t want a single thing to feel like COVID, and although I think we accomplished that in so many ways, it truly would have been impossible, and that’s actually okay, because it shows that love does prevail, and love definitely doesn’t get cancelled! What we felt was our immediate families (as well as family & friends from afar) rallying around us with love and support during this weird ass time, as we step into this new chapter as husband & wife! I’m so excited to finally be married to this man ❤️"
