When people ask us how we met, we usually say Bumble. But the truth is that David and I SHOULD have met six months earlier, when Melissa's friend tried to set her up with David. Melissa took a look at David's photo and went, "Meh, not my type." She likes to say that she wasn't ready to meet the love of her life at that point. After swiping right and a few messages back and forth, we met for coffee at David's favorite restaurant. The date was going so well, David asked if Melissa wanted to walk to a nearby used bookstore so he could show off his nerdiness. Two years later, it was time for David to seal the deal and ask Melissa to marry him (but only after receiving the book "Things I wish I had known before I got married" from Melissa as a not-so-subtle hint. We got married in Las Vegas, NV, which is where Melissa was raised. Our friends didn't seem too upset to be heading to Vegas for a weekend. It was important for us to get married in a place and at a time that could help honor Melissa's mom's memory, as she had passed away five years prior to our rehearsal dinner exactly. We decided to honor her by doing her favorite thing in the world--karaoke! We hosted a karaoke welcome party and Melissa surprised David with a serenade of Salt-n-Pepa's "Whatta Man." There's video evidence of this. Elvis made an appearance and it was the perfect way to say hello to all of our friends. Wedding was held at the Red Rock Hotel and Casino (Advice: If you want a stress-free day, pick a venue that does everything for you and hosts hundreds of events a year. They know what they are doing!). The day was absolutely magical. Between writing our own vows, taking a minute after the ceremony to soak it in, being lifted in chairs during the Horah, and a confetti exit, it was perfect. Our photo/video crew was amazing and we continue to relive this amazing day over and over. We love to share our story!
