When I met Corwin I was in my last year of college visiting a friend for a birthday party at his house. When this friend would talk about his roommate Corwin, I always thought to myself “Hm, that’s a cool name.” I attended this party with my college boyfriend at the time, and as soon as I was introduced to Corwin I had to keep it cool because I thought he was REALLY cute. There was something about him that attracted me to him, other than his good looks of course. He was the kind of man who didn’t know how good-looking he was, wasn’t trying hard to be the “life of the party,” and definitely couldn’t tell that I (and probably every other gal at the party) thought he was really cute. He was a quieter, more observant type, but not lacking confidence whatsoever. He was just happy where he was and had nothing to prove. I decided to strike up a conversation with him and we ended up talking for hours. We talked about our mutual love for music, dogs, soccer, and randomly how our parents used to play tennis with us. I remember thinking to myself “When things don’t workout with current boyfriend, I hope our paths will cross again.” All of our mutual friends are in the soccer community, so I knew it was only a matter of time before I see him at the fields. Fast forward and the time came where I found myself single again. I decided to find him on Facebook, making the move to add him as a friend. He accepted my request and I remember my heart jumping a little when he messaged me right away with a one worded question, “Tennis?” To that I said “Hell yeah.” We went on a few tennis dates (that we didn’t call dates at the time) and continued to hangout every chance we got. We would go for hikes with our dogs, kick the soccer ball around, and have some beer afterwards, talking about everything under the sun and getting to know our minds. Things just felt easy with him. They clicked. We decided we wanted to be together exclusively and have been since. After 3 years of dating we bought our first home together, and he proposed about one year later at our first music festival together, ACL Music Fest. He took me to the highest point in Austin, TX overlooking the city and popped the question there. I was totally shocked, as was my sister, who didn’t know her boyfriend and Corwin were planning the ultimate surprise for some time. She was just taking a regular scenic picture of us for our last day of the trip when he asked her to take a “silly” photo of us. This request made me momentarily suspicious because it’s not often Corwin asks for more pictures to be taken than one. Before I could complete my thought he was down on one knee, and the rest is history. I said DUH.
