Christine + Shawn first met in college at the University of Connecticut. Despite having some very close mutual friends throughout college, they lived parallel lives, never really crossing paths. Nearly nine years later their paths finally crossed again, this time at a local bar following a Hartford Wolfpack game. Christine's friends all thought something special was in the making, yet she was in complete denial. Following the exchange of phone numbers, some social media messaging (or lack there of from Christine), and the encouragement from a meaningless dating app their love story began.
On July 11, 2020 their first date was a hike full of reminiscing, laughter, and dipping toes into the pool at the foot of a waterfall at Devil's Hopyard... so Christine says. Shawn, on the other hand, assumed the too-beautiful-and-smart-and-perfect Christine to be out of his league and approached the meeting as "just friends".
After just a few more dates and being invited to the Baldi family vacation in Maine later that summer, Shawn realized just how lucky he was to have a woman like Christine. Shawn's willingness to take that leap of faith was quickly reciprocated by Christine in her commitment to learning to speak Portuguese.
Throughout the next year, the two raised a very active and playful German Shepherd puppy together named Finley. It was a year of adventures from Maine to the Finger Lakes, finding the best breweries, wineries, hikes, trying every cod dish, and of course... frequenting ice cream shops! Shawn proposed to Christine on December 3rd, 2021 at the spot of their first date, Devil's Hopyard.
That brings us to May 27th, 2023, their wedding day. Mountain Top Resort was the perfect location for these two to celebrate their love for one another. The weather was perfect... okay fine maybe it was a bit hot. But we weren't complaining! After a beautiful first look with mountains of Vermont in the background, these two shared beautiful letters they wrote for each other before making things official on The Knoll. A special horse carriage ride was a great way to cap off the lovely ceremony. The rustic barn was absolutely stunning, playing host to the reception where they celebrated late into the New England night.
