Contrary to common opinion (and Alanis Morissette's lyrics), rain on your wedding day can be a beautiful thing - and this wedding is the proof of that. In most cultures, rain is actually considered to be a blessing - as it signifies new life, rejuvenation and abundance. If those ideals are true, then Christine & Ricky are in for an amazing life together. Hawaii has always been the iconic representation of tropical weddings, and a destination we've long hoped to capture. So when Ricky and Christine called us just a month before their wedding date in Oahu, we knew we had to make it happen for them. We traveled with visions of sunsets and beach shores, but little did we know that an unwelcome guest would showed up as well: Hurricane Ana. To the average couple, or onlooker this would have been terrible news, but Christine and Ricky were nearly unfazed. Thankfully, Lisa Vorce and Mindy Rice were at the helm, handling the layout, planning and design, so the event didn't skip a single beat, and it still looked absolutely stunning. Thankfully, we also had the opportunity to work along-side a longtime favorite, Jose Villa, who also didn't think twice with the change in plans. This sudden change in the weather really gave us a chance to focus solely on our couple, their love for each other and the closeness of their families. We feel that Ricky said it best: “It is going to be the most beautiful, bright, sunny day because your smile can light up my heart.” To the couple that can take a unexpected hurricane weekend and turn it into one of our favorites, cheers and congrats!
