Our story truly is East meets West. I grew up in a rural Pennsylvania town but always craved adventure. So when i graduated I started to travel but I would always come back to my tiny townand each time I felt like something was missing. When i turned 19 i decided that, thats it California was calling to me and I was ready to answer the call. I packed up my truck and my dog(my best bud and side kick)and moved everything i owned to California, not knowing anyone and excited to start a-new. When i arrived I found a grocery store in San bernardino that many called the "vegan narnia" there by some lucky cupids arrow strike of fate I met the love of my life. I was nervous to approach him and later I found out that he had felt the same.As he says "the approach to conversation was a nervous moment of fuck it its worth the rejection, but rejection there was not." We exchanged numbers and started texting eachother every single day. It felt like something out of a romantic comedy and my heart was full of butterflies. Our first official date was at Griffith Observatory in LA and i literally tried on every single outfit I owned before he came to pick me up. I settled on a sun dress and some cute sandals....but ofcourse that was the one day in california it decided to rain🤦♀️ My shoes once they got wet gave me bambi legs and had me slip-sliding all over the place. Carlos politely helped me up and took my hand. I was absolutely MORTIFIED. We shared a beautiful day watching the stars together and he even took the extra effort to find a delicious vegan spot for me to eat at. I went home that evening knowing for sure he would never call me again after my dorky display all day. Yet seconds later my phone was lighting up with messages from him about what a wonderful time he had and asking when could he see me again. I felt as though my heart could burst. Him and I have been through many trials these last 5 years and with each one we become so much closer. Carlos and I are complete opposites but some how fate had brought us together in the simplest of ways.Since the first moment I met him all the way up to saying our vows I knew with all my heart I had found the other half of my star and now we were whole again. Our elopment was an adventure and the more I think about it the more perfect it seems. All you ever need is love and compassion. Love like all things in life is never easy but when you find someone who no matter how many times you see eachother continues to make your heart beat faster its worth fighting for. After he proposed we had started to plan a normal wedding. However, something didnt feel right, so following our hearts we decided to elope. We decided to elope because we wanted a grand magical adventure filled with nothing but our love. Fairies Glen in Isle of Skye Scotland ticked all those boxes. We found our wonderful, goofy amazingly talented and kind hearted photographers off of the knot.com and we really clicked with them instantly. As if we had been friends all our lives. They were more than happy to come along for our adventure and quite honestly without them it would not have been the same. Ofcourse the love and adventure would still be there but they brought so much more and made the trip that much more memorable. The Lahmanns are part of our family now and we love them with all our hearts. The only advice I could give about love and marriage is to always follow your heart. If its meant to be it will be as cliche as that sounds. I am someone that is all heart lol as my husband would say,and leading with your heart shows you just how beautiful existing truly can be. Thank you to Halde pottinger of the Humanist Society of Scotland for your amazing words at our ceremony and for everything else you have done for us. Keep being rad man! Thank you to Sara-Jane Nice for making our trip a reality. Without you it would've been so hectic. You are an angel! Thank you to anomalie.com for making my dream dress a reality. Thank you to Susan Kolar for making my dream dress fit me perfectly! Thank you to everyone else in Scotland for just being the kindest, most genuine people we have ever met. We hope to someday be back to your beautiful country. Thank you LoveStoriesTv for the feature, Brandon and Emily Lahmann are incredible and I hope that other brides and grooms get to see their brilliance.
