You could say Matthew and Bridget's relationship was electric, only because something sparked the night they held hands in a cornfield, watching a heat lightning storm in the middle of a typical Iowa summer. After graduating from Iowa State, Matthew spent the next four years pursuing his true passion, Bridget (also, working as an aerospace engineer). Chasing each other from Ames to Minneapolis and finally landing in Duluth, their adventures have included enjoying the fine arts in Chicago and Minneapolis, cheering on racehorses at Canterbury, and getting briefly separated in the Canadian wilderness (which turned out just fine). After four years of college friendship and another four years of dating, Matthew had unlocked the necessary skills required and exhausted everyone's patience. On October 29, 2017, the plans had been laid, the pieces were in motion. Only their friend Kyle knew what was going to happen. A seemingly innocent nature walk with friends and pups turned proposal as Matthew dropped to one knee and asked for Bridget's hand forever. Legend has it, he is still holding her hand. Just in case. Matthew and Bridget were happily married at Bearpath Golf & Country Club on October 12, 2019, on the coldest day of the month.
