Wedding Date on May 11, 2019

Eric and I met during our medical training and were distant acquaintances for a few years. I was in Ob/Gyn training and he was in Pediatric Neurology training. I reached out to him via email about a medical question and after a few work-related email conversations I thanked him for his help and offered to provide any pregnancy-related advice if he was close to having a child. He replied that he appreciated the offer but was single and far from having a child. I seized the opportunity and asked him out for a drink to say "thank you" for his help. That was August 9, 2016 and we haven't looked back ever since. We got engaged on January 4, 2018. Eric proposed on the steps of the iconic MET museum during a massive New York City snowstorm. We had dinner immediately after at the iconic 11 Madison Park restaurant. Eric had also arranged a dinner the following night with both of our families which was their first time meeting each other. We chose to get married at Keswick Vineyard in Charlottesville because I adore the Charlottesville area after having attended the University of Virginia for 8 years (college and medical school). Our ceremony included traditional Persian and Filipino wedding elements and was officiated by one of our close friends. The ceremony was originally planned to be outside amongst the vineyard however due to the unwelcomed rain that day, the ceremony was set up under a sperry tent. Our wedding coordinator (Cristelle Koerper of C&O Restaurant) knew that we were both disappointed with the rain and tented ceremony, as this was not the way we had envisioned things. By some stroke of incredible luck or divine intervention, the rain stopped minutes before the ceremony start time. Cristelle recruited her staff and a cohort of guests and they swiftly moved the ceremony set up (chairs, arbor, sofreh and all!) outside and we were ultimately able to have our dream outdoor ceremony! The rain held off just long enough for the ceremony and some photos immediately after, but started up again and continued heavily for the rest of the evening.
