From The Bride: About us: Jeff & Amelia were very much in the "Friend Zone" during their first few months as co-workers. (It will later be discovered that Jeff had saw Amelia's profile on Tinder during these early days and decided to "Swipe Left"--for those less familiar.. it means not interested). While friends, Jeff and Amelia often started texting dating advice about their respective situations. (Jeff had even taken a girl he was dating to watch one of Amelia's sketch shows). After one solid happy hour, Jeff and Amelia realized that they had feelings for each other and decided to start a relationship. Since they worked together, they kept the first few months of them dating on the down low not to make it awkward at work-- however the truth eventually came out :). Fast forward two and half years later, Amelia and Jeff were planning to go on a vacation with friends so in preparation, Amelia was on day three of a juice cleanse. Amelia's sister, Kelsey, texted her at 9 AM asking for a suitcase back that she had borrowed. Begrudgingly, Amelia went over to her sister's apartment to drop off said bag. While she was gone, Jeff prepared their apartment for what would be their engagement! Amelia returned 30 minutes later (after deciding to stop and pick up their laundry as well) to see Jeff dressed (and showered!) sitting in a chair. He then asked her to spend forever with him-- she said yes! About the Wedding: Our wedding planning process went by really fast, the biggest challenge was that we live in Chicago, but the wedding was in Detroit. Hiring a planner (Festoons & Flourishes) was key to keeping us on task and stress-free. We started by picking the venue, DYC, It not only has a great history in Detroit, but it's also where Amelia's grandparents were married. By selecting them, all our booze and dinner selections were handled in house (and frankly a lot less things for us to worry about). Dancing is very important to us so we felt a band was the next big thing. After that, I trusted Ashley (our planner) to help us with design (I don't know a ranunculus from a tulip...). Our biggest concern day of was more about logistics and getting everyone to the venue and back to the hotels so adding shuttles throughout the day was key to make the day run smoothly.
