Wedding Date on Jul 11, 2020

THE SPARK Two separate but similar passions for finance, a convenient series of events, and a spark…these three elements in combination led to what we will now forever know as Team 1127. At the start of 2013, Bobby was actively seeking the opportunity to enter the financial industry by whatever means necessary, and particularly admired the credit union space. After a handful of interviews, he accepted a position at Golden 1 Credit Union as a teller at the El Dorado Hills branch. Meanwhile, clear across town in Elk Grove, Amber was looking to continue her career in the credit union space and accepted an identical teller position at the Promenade branch in Sacramento. They both showed up at Golden 1 Headquarters for the first day of training on April 15, and they and a handful of co-trainees began their two weeks of training having lunch together every day. It was in these two weeks that Bobby and Amber developed a friendship that lasted beyond the training despite going to different branches, and the group of co-trainees maintained email contact to track everyone’s progress and stay in touch. About a year into role, Bobby was offered a promotion to become a full-time Member Relationship Specialist and work on “the other side of the glass” with new accounts, loans, and more; however, since he was still finishing his degree, he chose to remain as a part-time teller so he wouldn’t need to work full-time while also going to school full-time. Upon telling Amber of the offer, she asked if he would put in a good word for her for the open position instead, and Bobby immediately agreed. Amber was given an interview by Bobby’s manager per his recommendation, and in her own merit Amber successfully obtained the position. Bobby and Amber were each in relationships since meeting, however around this time both relationships ended coincidentally. Neither Bobby nor Amber felt ready to try dating again, but Bobby wanted to welcome Amber to the new branch since it was an unfamiliar area for her otherwise and invited her to a few friend gatherings. These gatherings coupled with interacting with each other daily at work eventually triggered the “spark.” Amber was fond of the movie “How to Train Your Dragon,” and when she mentioned the sequel was being released in theaters, they decided to go together for their first date. They had such a great time that they continued the evening with drinks at Toby Keith’s, but not too late because they both had work the next day. Speaking of work, this presented a challenge. Since Amber technically outranked Bobby, and their combinations of keys and access codes could theoretically rob the branch blind, there was inherently a conflict of interest that needed to be guarded for both the relationship and their employments to continue. Both being professional in the workplace, it was relatively easy to hide the fact they were dating and pose as merely being good friends, but even outside of work Amber found herself dodging for cover if they ever walked in front of a Golden 1 ATM fearing the cameras would see them together. Clearly this was not a viable long-term option, so when Amber saw an opportunity to transfer to another branch and maintain the same position, she accepted the offer and transferred to the Prairie City branch in Folsom. On their last day working together, the whole branch walked out together, and Bobby wished her well by saying “Goodbye, it’s been nice working together, I just wish we got to know each other better.” At this moment the branch manager exploded saying “COME ON, I KNOW you guys have been dating, SPILL THE BEANS” …guess the secret wasn’t as well hidden as they thought. Add a few years, trips, concerts, meals, laughs, love, cats, friends, nicknames, Zelda, bahto-beetos, Pokémon, and Senses Fail lyrics, and we find ourselves at their wedding day. Bobby and Amber are both ecstatic to celebrate with all of you, their closest friends and family, and appreciate all your contributions to helping write this story in your own way.
