From The Bride: We met in high school and were friends for a while before we started dating. Over time and as we got closer, it was apparent we both wanted to be more than just friends and began dating when I was a Sophomore and he was a Senior at Brentwood Academy. Our love story has many twists and turns along the way, but we have always known that we wanted to be together forever. After high school, he received a scholarship to play Division I Golf at Lipscomb University in Nashville where he stayed for two years while I finished school. When I graduated high school, we both moved to Knoxville and attended the University of Tennessee. After he graduated from Undergrad, he stayed in Knoxville to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law. We had definitely talked about getting married for years and even the possibility of him proposing later in college. In March of 2014, we were spending the week at his grandparents’ condo in Seagrove, FL and I was so certain that he would be proposing while we were there. His parents were planning to come down for our last night and then stay the following week; so when he hadn’t done anything by the last day, I decided I was wrong. His mother arrived and wanted to go shopping at nearby Rosemary Beach before we were going to dinner. Looking back on it, we always laugh as she tried three times to convince me to get ready for dinner first so that I wouldn’t be wearing gym clothes in the pictures. I was oblivious of course and insisted I would get ready when we got back. Their condo is directly on the beach on the 19th floor with a beautiful view of 30A. When his mother and I got back to the room, I noticed rose petals on the floor leading out to the balcony. My heart was racing as I ran outside and saw him down on the beach with “Will you marry me?” written huge in the sand. I rushed down to a cheering crowd of people and of course said yes! Afterwards, we went to dinner at our favorite restaurant, The Red Bar, to celebrate! We knew that we wanted to wait to get married until after he finished law school in May of 2016, so we decided on August 13 of that year. I’m an Event Planner, so I knew I would have plenty of time to plan my dream wedding. We quickly decided on First Presbyterian Church for the ceremony - the church I grew up going to and the home of my elementary school, Oak Hill School. After looking at many venues all over Nashville, we both fell in love with Ruby.
