To this day I still find myself questioning how Allyson and Mark exist. Not like as couple or anything like that, but as people! Their personalities are so strong, so kind, so caring. The day after we filmed their wedding we received thank you texts with detailed descriptions about how much they enjoyed having us there. A handwritten letter with decorated envelope soon followed. But I’m getting ahead of myself! Let’s back up for context: Rachel’s email thread with Allyson is currently sitting at 71 emails. That’s 71 messages back and forth of wedding details, recommendations, encouragement, niceties, and oh so much scheduling. Those are 71 emails of friendship, that made the actual meeting in person (the day before their wedding) easy. Don’t get me started on the rehearsal dinner! I think they have relationships that would feature 71+ email threads going with a lot of people, because their rehearsal dinner featured an hour of toasts about them, their relationship, and the impact they have had on their friends and family. And to be clear, these weren’t simplistic “Y’all are great” toasts, we are talking tears flowing, heart overflowing, joy-filled stories about the effects of their relationship. At this point, we started to realize more of just how awesome these two are. Throw in a batch of homemade biscuits and chocolate gravy on the wedding morning (Google it!) made by the bride’s own grandmother, enough tears during the ceremony to rival the rehearsal dinner, and the perfect sunset peeking out of the clouds in a field that we decided to visit ON A WHIM, and you start to see how great this wedding was. And for real, I was skeptical about the chocolate gravy part, but it’s now one of my favorite things. So like I said, I’m not sure how Mark and Allyson exist as such awesome people, but I do know that we were so happy to make the flight from Texas to Nashville to capture their love. Oh, and eat hot chicken. - Matt Johnson, Filmstrong Wedding Films
