Eric and I met in good 'ol Columbia, South Carolina in May of 2013. The next day I was moving to Nashville and decided to head to the pool with some friends for my last hurrah (little did Eric know it would be his). Fate was in our favor when he randomly happened to have the day off from work. USC is a big school but we all ran around in the same crowds so you can imagine my shock when I arrived to the Olympia pool only to find a cross fit glistening god (Eric). Needless to say I called dibs. People would not describe me as a shy person but when I met Eric I was stuttering and couldn't finish sentences. After the pool we went to Pearlz with a group of friends where Eric proceeded to order Oyster shooters. Having never personally indulged in this delicacy, I had to put on a poker face to impress him. Being the gentleman he is he insisted on driving my car home for me after dinner. I was hesitant because I knew he drove a really nice car & I had a metal couch that needed water regularly added to the radiator in order to run. When he got into the front seat he looked at me and said, "Oh, this is like a go-kart, it's great!" & right then I knew he was the one. Just kidding, but I did know he was going to be a really cool guy with a good sense of humor! As millennials do, we continued to text and face-time over the next couple of weeks & decided to meet half way in Atlanta which was about a three hour drive for both of us. Naturally, somewhere in the backwoods of Georgia my metal couch decided to call it quits. I found myself crying in an auto shop in the middle of nowhere to a nice man named Phil in fear that I wouldn't be able to see Eric. This was the first time Eric told me, "trust me, we'll figure it out" & I believed him. He's never failed me since. Given the circumstances this also happened to be the first time he spoke to my mom & she flat out warned him that these types of scenarios are not out of the ordinary. Well, I've never failed him since. Like a knight in shining armor Eric ended up saving me from Phil's auto shop & we had a blast that weekend in Atlanta & we've had a blast ever since...
