From Allison,
Rob and I met through work about 10 years ago. To me, he was the long haired IT guy who would fix my computer on occasion. He was always very helpful and I enjoyed his quirky/sarcastic humor. He might say that I was a difficult employee because I had a tendency to ignore his phone calls, and he occasionally still likes to bring this up today.
Rob left to work for our third-party IT company, and I left to work for another company altogether. A few years later I returned, and Rob was still providing IT support. On a Friday night in January about four years ago Rob was working on a project in Atlanta at our corporate headquarters. I was not supposed to be working from the office that day but had a big deadline, and asked if it would be okay if I worked from my office in order to be "more productive". Rob and his team were there in the office working and they asked if I wanted to go to lunch. I declined because the restaurant they chose was pretty far away and we were supposed to get some snow. I decided I should either stay put or head on home. About 10 minutes later they returned stating because of the weather they decided to stay local and go to a nearby restaurant. So, I joined. There were three of us at lunch and we talked and talked and then headed back to the office to finish up the day. I was supposed to catch a flight that night to Florida for work and he was supposed to catch a flight back home to Tennessee, but because of the weather both of our flights were delayed until later than next day. We all decided to do dinner and the rest is history! If it weren’t for snow on that day I’m not sure we would’ve ever connected. We quickly became best friends, and it wasn’t long before we became more than friends!
