From The Bride: When Mike was a senior at Shelbyville Central High, I was just a freshman. Looking back.... we never would have imagined to be where they are today. The summer of 2011 changed everything! Dating started out as a joke at first, but quickly turned into a real love story. Throughout the summer of 2011 Mike and I became inseparable. In August, Mike had to return back to Tennessee Tech University to begin his junior year of college while I began my senior year of high school. For a year, we experienced what a long distance relationship was like, but we made it work. When the time came for me to choose a college, I acted like it was a hard decision, but I knew from the start I wanted to be wherever Mike was. After that, I then moved to Cookeville, Tennessee to start off my freshman year at Tennessee Tech. The next three years were filled with movie dates, college stress, Mike's college graduation, new jobs, and the adoption of our fur baby, Knox. In April of 2015, right before my 21st birthday, Mike got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife on his grandfather's farm. I then graduated college May 2016. On October 7th, 2016 we said 'I do' at a beautiful wedding venue in our hometown. Family has always been very important to me and I would say they are what inspired me while planning my wedding. It all started when Mike used my Mother's original diamond from her wedding band to create my dream ring. From then, I knew I wanted everything in our wedding to have a purpose. This included having a close family friend create our bouquets and boutonnieres and cake. For jewelry I wore a pearl ring passed down from Mike's mother. At the ceremony we had a bench with photos of family members who have passed. We also used things such as Mike's grandmothers handmade quilts for decoration. At the reception we displayed both of our mother's wedding dresses and wedding photos. We also displayed photos of our grandparents weddings. On the tables we just old dishes, candlesticks, and tea pots. Most of these where from family members or close family friends. During the toast we used champagne glasses that were given to us by my grandparents and we used a family friends Corvette for our getaway car. Overall, the wedding was everything I have ever wanted, I would do it all over again if I could!
