Vanessa and Michael met during Vanessa's senior year at Georgetown University, when her best friend & bridesmaid Maxi was working at Michael's commercial real estate company. Michael had started the company one year prior and was looking for a new employee to run the office. Maxi suggested Vanessa send her resume in simply because Vanessa's parents had politely "suggested" she start looking for a post-college job. Vanessa sent it in, not thinking much would come of it, but that she could pick up at least a part-time job leading up to graduation. And so, a few weeks later on a brisk Monday morning in March 2011, Vanessa headed to The Watergate Office building for her interview. Michael was late that morning, blaming his participation in a Sunday night soccer game that led him to hit snooze a few times that morning. Vanessa will never let him forget that he kept his future wife waiting all those years ago! A work happy hour in June of that year found the perpetually-professional pair flirting, giggling and seeing each other in a new, unexpected light. The next day, Michael's coworker & groomsman Brian prodded him for details. Michael's response? "It's nothing." Famous last words...
