From The Bride:
THE MEETING:
They met through mutual friends. Colt started working at Billy Reid in Chicago and Ruthie would frequently come in with her best friends. They started spending more time together and after a few weeks of talking, Colt asked Ruthie on a date. Their first date was early December 2015 in Chicago. They got ramen noodles and went to see the Christmas lights at the zoo. The night ended with a beer at a little dive bar. Their love was immediate.
THE PROPOSAL:
Colton planned the proposal to happen when Ruthie’s parents were visiting for the weekend. Colton and his family decked out Ruthie’s studio space with flowers, candles, champagne and food. Upon entering the room, she was directed to a table filled with flowers, a year’s worth of photos, and a handwritten letter. With tears in her eyes, she read the letter then proceeded to walk out the door. Colton had directed her to meet him on the roof of the building. What could have been a cold, icy night, ended up being a perfectly cool, November evening. The air was clear with the Super Moon shining over the Chicago skyline on one side and the warm sun setting in the west. With no one else present but a photographer, it wasn’t long before Colton was down on one knee with the ring in his hand, asking Ruthie, “Will you marry me?”
From Ruthie: “Everything about Colty charms me. The way he loves people, pursues Jesus, and gets overly passionate about things like coffee and cigars. He is an incredibly talented designer, has an eye for interior design and loves quality fashion. He thrives in the great outdoors and is just as content snuggling up inside. He is a deep thinker and feeler and he loves to deconstruct and rebuild the things we often take for granted. He is kind and thoughtful and witty and intelligent. He pays attention to details and is one of the most relaxed people I’ve ever met. He has perfect hair, a face to match and he loves me unconditionally. What more could I ask for? Doing life with him everyday is my greatest joy!!”
From Colton: “Ruthie is the most bubbly and giggly person you will meet. She makes everyone she meets feel like they have been each other’s best friend for years. There is never a dull moment. She is loyal and caring. She is extremely creative and designs + makes insane clothing. She is crazy about loving Jesus and others. She is everything and much more than I ever dreamed.”
