Roman Makovey- the man who could never keep a secret from me- gave me the biggest surprise of my life by proposing on November 10, 2017. Roman & I met in college and from the very beginning, we both just knew we would be together forever. That is why it was bittersweet to leave him in Phoenix for the weekend when I went to visit my family in my hometown in San Diego. My family asked me what I wanted to do, and I told them “let’s just go for a bike ride around Coronado Island, and then get something to eat after”. Little did I know, however, this was EXACTLY how my soon-to-be fiance was planning on proposing to me. As I got onto the plane to go to San Diego, he secretly drove from Phoenix to San Diego, and spent the night at my brothers apartment without me even knowing it! The next day, while I was on the bike ride with my family, he was setting up the perfect proposal spot just a few miles away from us. It was not only the surprise of a lifetime to see him in my hometown, but most of all, to be able to say “YES” to the best man I have ever known.
