Wedding Date on Aug 25, 2018

The Proposal: 9:00 PM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 Inman Park, Atlanta, GA, USA “I had thoughts about how I was going to propose to Nikki for several months leading up to the big day. For many who know my beautiful bride-to-be and her girlfriends, secrets are not very well-kept. Thus, I knew this plan was going to need to come from my big brain alone. The closer we got to the holiday season I knew that the proposal was going to be on everyone’s mind. I didn’t want our proposal to be tied with any holiday, sporting event, or birthday (Nikki’s birthday is 10/25), so I decided to propose the first week in November, after her birthday before the holidays rolled around. Nikki and I were leaving for Florida on Thursday for a little weekend vacation just the two of us and I saw it as an opportunity to enjoy our big moment alone together. Since we were leaving that Thursday, I wanted to celebrate the moment with all of our wonderful friends that have supported us along the way. On Wednesday, the night before we flew to FL, I decided to propose to Nikki and surprise her with a big gathering of our friends at Hampton + Hudson in Inman Park. A favorite restaurant of ours is Barcelona Wine Bar, across the street from Hampton + Hudson. I suggested that Nikki and I go enjoy a pre-vacation dinner at Barcelona with the plan to meet our friends Matt and Cait for a drink at H+H afterwards (it was a fun way to kickstart the trip). While Nikki was somewhat shocked I made a reservation by myself, she was excited to start this getaway a day early. Once we got to the restaurant, I knew we had an hour and fifteen minutes before we needed to head to “the spot” before celebrating with friends at H+H. It was difficult to not rush through dinner and keep down everything I tried to put in my stomach, but I think the wine helped tremendously. Once dinner concluded, I told Nikki that Matt and Cait were just 5 minutes away. It was part of the plan because I had told Nikki that I wanted to show her the dog park by the fountain behind H+H on our way to dinner so we stuck with that plan. Earlier that day I met with our buddy who was going to take pictures of the incredible moment, and he was right where we discussed when I planted my knee and told Nikki why she was the love of my life and I had to marry her. Still smiling, we took pictures by the fountain and then proceeded to meet Matt & Cait at Hampton + Hudson. They met us outside with hugs and cheers, and once we entered the restaurant Nikki knew what was awaiting her upstairs. Each step we took the excitement grew to get to the top and celebrate with friends and family that had joined. It was a wonderful night!”
