From The Bride:

Mariah Michalski & Todd Bertrand connected in 2012 when the Michalski Family was going through a very tough time. Trevor, Mariah’s older brother, had been involved in a tragic motorcycle accident and was hospitalized for 2 months. During this time, Todd reached out to Mariah after recognizing Trevor was hurt and expressed his concern. Mariah and Todd were connected through the racing community and she took particular note of Todd’s thoughtful outreach.

The two stayed in touch throughout the course of the summer and later met at the Woodstock Fair in September of 2012. The following night, Mariah decided to attend Todd’s midget race at Waterford Speedbowl, where Todd was able to win the feature event. It was clear that they were a solid team from the beginning :). With their common interest in racing, they became instant best friends.

From 2012-2014, Mariah and Todd grew their relationship by hanging out mostly on the weekends due to living over an hour apart. During this time they built memories through racing, traveling and supporting each others family. After 2 years of living long distance, a lot of patience, and an abundance of love, it was time to begin the next chapter of their lives.

In 2014, Todd accepted a new job at Acquia, based out of Boston, MA. Living in Suffield, CT was no longer viable because of the commute, so the only option was moving closer to the city. The Michalski family welcomed Todd with open arms, allowing him to get on his feet with the new career and enabled Mariah and Todd to see each other day in and day out.

Since this day, Mariah and Todd solidified their outstanding thoughts around what it would be like to live together. After residing with Mariah’s parents for a year, an opportunity to buy a house built by the Michalski family on the same plot of land arose. In November of 2015, Mariah and Todd closed on their first home located behind her parents house on 6 acres – a dream was becoming reality.

Mariah worked for two years in the Retail industry at Nordstrom and decided to start studying to become a Loan Officer and is currently working as an assistant to her mother, Ruth Michalski @J.G. Wentworth Home Lending. Todd has continued moving up at Acquia, working on the Higher Education team selling software to Colleges & Universities. They are excited to keep progressing their careers, make further improvements to the house and look forward to enhancing the property each year.

Mariah and Todd love working together more than anything. If it’s not doing projects around the house, they are working on the race car together, helping each others family, or finding a new dish to make for dinner. The most commonly suggested date night by Mariah is making seafood pasta, then go to a local race track :). Another big part of Mariah and Todd’s life is their two dogs, Throttle and Lillian Bertrand. Throttle is known for speaking on command and showing his “Grillllll” and Lillian is known for being the most precious, kind and loving dog during the daylight – and becomes extremely sassy when the sun goes down.
