Love Story Of The Day: Their Confetti-Filled First Dance Is The Best Thing EVER

WE LOVE THEM. From their shared love of Celine Dion to their choreographed first dance, everything about these two just makes us want to know them. You can tell they are best friends and always have the best time. Learn more about how they met and fell in love from the bride herself, then watch their incredible wedding film by Troy Costa.

From The Bride:

Ryan and I met, just like any other Portland couple, at a local Brewery. At the time, I was dancing for the Portland Trailblazers, so while my first impressions of Ryan were handsome and funny, his first impression of me was, “glitter.” Things escalated quickly and when we both discovered our mutual love for Celine Dion (serious truth here), I actually proposed to him only hours after meeting him. Our life adventures began that day and with both of us loving to travel, our first vacation was to Hawaii, which has officially turned into “our spot.” A few months after we went ring shopping together, Ryan and I booked a vacation to Hawaii (I was really hoping this would be, “the trip”). After being there for four days (yes, he made me wait!), we rented a convertible and drove around the island. I could tell Ryan was acting different, as he was driving like a maniac on a two lane highway around the island. I suggested we pull over for a break, so he parked in a very intimate beach area and we started walking in the surf. Ryan then dropped to one knee, pulled the ring out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. We had the best time celebrating the rest of that week and of course, got to planning right away, by hiring our wedding planner Elizabeth (Bridal Bliss) the next day. I’ve dreamt of this day since I was a little girl and Elizabeth was literally everything to us. We wanted to soak it in and enjoy the planning process and with Elizabeth’s help, meeting regularly with her and making countless decisions, that’s exactly what we did. Our location, Sunriver, Oregon is a beautiful resort full of greenery, mountains, sunshine and really is just magical. All of my bridesmaids were in sequin dresses, all different shades of gold and the groomsmen were in classic black tuxes, including our dog Gary, who was our ring bearer. The flowers were pale pink and white with foliage in between and we wanted the feeling to be elegant and classic. The room was lit with hundreds of candles, breathtaking decor and was more than I could have ever imagined or dreamed of. Although we knew the day would be executed perfectly (thanks to our planner), the only anxiousness we felt on our big day was leading up to our choreographed first dance. We rehearsed for months and at the end of our dance we had over 30 confetti cannons held by the bridal party, their dates and our parents explode to turn the entire space solid gold. Our faces at that moment showed nothing but pure bliss and that was our favorite part of the night. After running through sparklers, we ended with champagne and reminisced until early hours in the morning about the best day of our lives. If I could go back in time, I would always choose that day, but I’m so excited for our future together, forever.
