Colorado plays an adorable part in Jamie and Jon's love story, so it's fitting that the couple chose to get married in Boulder. (See their love story below for more on that ;) The setting is undeniably gorgeous, but it's the amazing speeches that make their film a must-see. The Maid of Honor's speech is literally amazing and even includes the perfect Sex and the Cityreference. ( A woman after our own hearts. ❤️) Watch Jamie and Jon's gorgeous wedding by Films About Love below, and then read our interview with the bride!

The Love Story:

We met at a mutual friends birthday party in Central Park. Jon, a CU Alumni, was wearing a CU Boulder hat and Jamie introduced herself by saying, “my parents live in Boulder.” The rest is history. Jon proposed in their New York apartment on September 9, 2016 and they were married in Boulder, CO on September 3, 2017.

Having planned a destination wedding, was finding a venue outside of New York difficult?

Although New York is home, we always wanted a destination wedding to make it a weekend affair. We settled on Boulder, Colorado, because it was the place that originally brought us together! I wanted an outdoor wedding with a classic and modern feel, but finding a venue in Boulder was tough. Everything was either too rustic, too small or just didn't feel like us. My parents, who are local to Boulder, and my amazing wedding planner, Jolene Peterson of Laurel and Rose were instrumental in helping us find a venue. They would go to each venue, Facetime me and send me tons of photos. I really had to trust that they understood my vision. After many Facetime calls, we ended up selecting a brand new venue, Milston Well Farm. They had never hosted a wedding before, which made it exciting and challenging. It was a beautiful blank canvas and we were really able to bring our vision to life.

Tell us about that amazing dress! How did you find it and know it was the one you were going to wear on your wedding day?

The inspiration for the wedding was a classic New York affair, dropped in the middle of the mountains and that definitely dictated the dress! I went to a bunch of bridal shops in New York, but surprisingly ended up finding my dress in Denver, CO at the Little White Dress Shop. I was drawn to very structural and simple designs and kept coming back to the designer J. Mendel. I loved the dress the moment I tried it on, and when my mom, sister and I started crying, we knew it was the one. Picking the dress was the easy part, but after the first round of alterations, I started to second guess the deep V in the front and thought it was too revealing. I cannot thank Basha at Lux Tailor enough, who literally worked miracles and made the perfect dress for me. She ended up taking extra fabric from the dress and completely reconstructing the front of the dress. In the moment, it was a disaster, but I LOVED how it came out, and now I can confidently say it’s a one of a kind dress!

How did you find your wedding filmmaker, and what made you choose them?

I love wedding videos and knew I wanted one, but it was important that we didn’t break the bank. I did a bunch of research, spoke to a few different vendors in the area and ended up finding Michael from Films About Love. His films were beautiful, he was very responsive and professional and his price was extremely reasonable. Michael blew us away with the video he created! It exceeded all expectations and captures the day perfectly.

What was the most unexpected part of your wedding journey?**

There are so many special moments from our vows to our first dance that made the day so incredible, but the most unexpected would have to bet the speeches! I think the video captures them perfectly. Jon’s brother is a comedian and I knew he would make us laugh, but he far exceeded our expectations and had the entire room crying of laughter. My 17 year-old sister, who was my maid of honor, blew us all away with her speech. As you can imagine, she is very new to the wedding circuit, and surprised us all with her incredible poise and thoughtful words. And lastly, my dad's speech was so special and is by far the best part of the wedding video.

And, your #1 piece of advice for future brides and grooms?

Remember to have fun and take time together during the weekend. The planning and the wedding happen in a blink of an eye, so live in the moment and enjoy it. There are definitely stressful moments, but at the end of the day it’s about each other and don’t take it too seriously.
