Zavion and John met as children. Though they were from different worlds, they instantly connected and became best friends. Through life's many changes, the pair always found their way back to each other discovering that their bond was much more than friendship, it was love. They started as best friends became business partners, successfully planning over 600 weddings collectively, and now they're partners in love. We were 12 and 10 respectively when we first met in Durban, South Africa. John, a quiet english boy from the area, and Zavion an Afrikaans boy from Johannesburg. Neither of us could speak the other ones language, but somehow, and in spite of all odds, we became friends. This friendship lasted for years until we were separated by high schools and colleges. It was only as young adults that we reconnected again. After chatting for months, and finding, once again, the friendship that was so strong, we were interrupted again by the TV show Survivor. Zavion was not allowed to tell anyone that he was going to be on Survivor and quickly disappeared for a full month. It was only when a huge billboard featuring Zavion’s face came out that John knew where he had been.
Once he returned from the island, we reconnected again and immediately discovered that what was once a friendship, was defined to be love. We have loved each other, probably since we were small kids, and that love is even stronger now. There is something truly majestic about marrying your best friend. We are now partners in love, business and life, running a very successful wedding planning and floral design company, as well as a wedding venue in the Cradle of Humankind, near Johannesburg, South Africa.
Our wedding day was everything we had always dreamed of, and was a combination of our dreams and ideas. Masculine, bold and elegant design formed a foundation for a truly spectacular wedding. Planning our own wedding was easy as we have collectively planned over 600 weddings. The best tip we can give anyone planning their own wedding is to Lead with Love, passion and understanding; after that, everything will fall into place.
