Bride Is An Inspiration To Anyone Planning A Wedding Without Their Mom

No matter how many wedding videos we watch, a sweet moment with Mom never fails to make our favorites list. To celebrate Mother's Day, we asked real brides from our community to share their favorite wedding memories with their moms, and we were overwhelmed with the sweet responses (read them HERE ), but one response really struck us, and that was Emily's.

Emily lost her mom to Brain Cancer on May 14, 2013, four years ago this Mother's Day. And while Emily's mom was sadly not there to share in her beautiful wedding day, she did get to meet Emily's now-husband Joseph. When we read Emily's story, we were moved to tears and immediately thought about how this is an experience that many brides and grooms face during their wedding planning journey. We thought Emily's story could serve as a source of comfort and inspiration for anyone who is planning a wedding after the loss of a parent. So, with Mother's Day around the corner, we wanted to share this message from Love Stories TV Bride Emily, and send some extra-love to all the brides and grooms out there planning their big day without Mom. <3

From The Bride:

I wanted to write something on behalf of all the brides that have lost their mothers, and couldn't have their mother at the their wedding or to celebrate Mother's Day with anymore.

My mother passed away on May 14, 2013 from Brain Cancer in 2013 after a two year battle.  I just realized as I type this, this Mother's Day on the day will be exactly 4 years. Luckily, my husband had the pleasure of meeting her a couple times during her illness when she was still vibrant and filled with personality.  My mother also had the pleasure of meeting my then boyfriend, and I think she would be happy to see that we got married. It means so much to be married to someone my mother was able to know.

In her honor, I have started this 501c3 non-profit organization, Lets Go Foundation (in honor of her last words, \"Lets Go\").  My mother was Korean, and our wedding video shows my father giving a speech throughout the video with a Korean cheers with soju shots to honor her. We also had a memory tree with her photo at our reception table.

My aunt (my mother's older sister) took the role of the mother and came from Korea to Marco Island to walk down in traditional Korean a Korean mother wears to their child's wedding.
