Congrats to the Captains Fink! We had a blast documenting their day - which just so happened to be a sunny 70 degree day in October! It was clearly meant to be! These two met at Fort Knox during ROTC training and stayed friends until they eventually started dating. The rest is history.

From the Bride (Erin):

We met at Fort Knox, KY during ROTC cadet summer training the summer of 2017. I had a huge crush on Michael the whole month we were there, we kept tabs on each other and stayed friends until Michael reached back out in 2020 while I was in medical school and he was in Hawaii in the infantry and we started dating long distance and traveling to see each other. We got engaged in Maui in 2021 and both work on JBLM, me at the hospital as a doctor and Michael as a military intelligence officer.

If you choose to have a military wedding, your ceremony can take place at a military chapel or the academy from which the military member graduated. When figuring out the seating arrangements, remember that each service brand has different guidelines but, generally, the higher-ranking the officer, the better position at both the ceremony and reception.

Many people know a military wedding simply by the attire—most often we see a groom in his dress blues (or whites in the summer)—but there are numerous traditions that come with the territory of hosting a military wedding. 

One of the most well known military wedding traditions is the Arch of Sabers (or Swords if referring to a Navy or Marine Corps member). If either partner, or both, are commissioned officers, they can have a ceremony exit beneath an archway of sabers held by other military members. Noncommissioned officers and enlisted personnel may instead go with the variation called the Arch of Rifles. Speaking of swords, another popular tradition is to cut the cake with a sword instead of a knife at the reception.
