Our journey to Elise and Josh’s wedding saw us traveling by airplane, car, and ferry boat – but what an amazing destination awaited us!  Ocracoke Island is of the most remote of the Outer Banks of North Carolina and has quite a colorful history (including being a haven for pirates, Blackbeard himself among them).  But that’s a story for another time…  Thanks so much to all those that made their wedding day possible, including the staff of Berkley Manor and Back Porch Restaurant.

A casual wedding is playful, fun and great for weddings with a smaller guest list. The ceremony is often outdoors or hosted in a backyard and we love the thought of using benches for the seating to really keeps the formality to a minimum. String lights are a must!

There's no need for china or chargers at a casual reception so have fun with the place settings, like a patterned or textured placemat. As for food, comfort food is a no-brainer. I am a wedding and commercial filmmaker living in Virginia Beach, VA.
