Music may come from Irish Uilleann Pipes or the Celtic harp, both sweeter than the Scottish bagpipes and renowned in Ireland.

One of our favorite Irish wedding traditions is the ancient Celtic handfasting ceremony. It's a symbol of unity and sometimes couples choose it instead of vows. The officiant will wrap a ribbon or cord around the couple's hands as they recite promises and commitments until their hands are bound together. And despite modern practice, Saturday was actually considered an unlucky day to wed in Irish tradition so use that as an excuse to save some money and get married on a Tuesday or Wednesday!
