From the bride: “Being in CA, we usually travel home for holidays -especially since our parents live about 10-15 minutes away from each other. We had gone home to spend Christmas with our families. It was December 23, 2017 and Kyles parents were having family over for a dinner and invited my family to dinner as well (we’ve done that plenty of times before so I didn’t think anything of it). I had an idea the engagement might be coming sometime soon, but it was not on my mind that day AT ALL. Kyles sister, Kristen, had gotten married October 28 – just a few months before… She gathered everyone into the kitchen before we ate dinner (buffet style Cuban – my fav!!!) and had gifts for everyone that was able to make the trip to the wedding and thanked us for traveling… she passed out gifts to her grandmother, to kyles mom, to me and a few other people. I was nervous because I felt everyone watching everyone open gifts (I was last to get a gift, and everyone was opening them right on the spot so I felt I needed to do the same). When I opened it, they were a set of Santa hat wine glasses with Mr. and Mrs. on them- and I immediately started holding it out – my first thought was on no she gave me the wrong gift (still clueless)! But I quickly turned around and to find Kyle on one knee (He had grabbed my ring out of a kitchen cabinet when I was opening the gift and never noticed!) 🙂 Asked me to be his wife and here we are!”
