From The Bride:

We met in high school our sophomore year in Topeka, KS. I was new from California, and I did not know anyone there. I was the new kid that no one bothered to get to know. He was one of the few classmates that actually tried to get to know me. We became friends which turned into dating. It was a brief relationship, but still saw each other in passing til we graduated in 2009.

A few years had passed since I last saw him. We were both attending Washburn University and in the middle of the semester we ran into each other. It was so random because we always took the same path to class and we didn’t run in to each other the whole semester. I remember saying ” well hello stranger,” and the rest if history. Looking back on this moment, it was fate. Our paths finally crossed again, and I’m glad it did.

This is our proposal story! We had been together for 3 wonderful years. We had grown a lot as a couple from just causal dating, to becoming serious. Then moving in together in Austin’s first big purchase, our home. The first half of 2015 was a little rocky for us. We had rescued a three legged cat, our Lucy. She gave us much joy, but she unfortunately had a few health problems that required many vet visits. Then our house flooded twice that spring. We were stressed and tight on money. We were saddened when our Lucy passed away from her health issues. The only thing we were looking forward to was going on the Smith family vacation to Colorado. We were all going some place new this year. We looked forward to camping, riding our ATVs, and hanging around the campfire. Now I knew our relationship was going on to the next level. I knew in my heart that Austin wanted to propose to me. I mean can you blame him =-) I was also realistic and knew that it was a financially hard year for us. I knew it would happen another time. I went on this trip knowing that the question would not be asked. Well little did I know, Austin had a plan I did not see coming. The trip was finally here and we were on our way to Colorado. When we first saw the mountains, we all had to announce it. We finally arrived to Taylor Park, settled into our cabins and were blown away by the beauty Colorado had offered us. The first couple days of our trip was off to a rough start. The weather was not kind, and Austin was having a hard time adjusting to the altitude. We finally got a break on Wednesday the 22nd =). The weather was beautiful and we were all planning on going up the tallest mountain ATV’s can ride on, American Flag Mountain. That steep climb up the mountain made my heart race. Austin’s heart was probably beating even faster. We finally made it to the top, 12, 713 feet! The scenery was breathe taking. I am not afraid of heights, so I went right to the edge to take a few photos. Knowing that Austin was not a fan of heights, I told him I would be back. As I was taking a panoramic photo, I was oblivious to the fact that Austin had come to join me, and that he was trying to get my attention. When he finally grabbed my attention, it was the start of our new chapter. He conquered his fear of heights and proposed to me on top of a mountain! It was the best moment of our lives. I was so happy that my future brother and sister in law caught it all on video and camera. When we got to the bottom of the mountain, the family celebrated. Well Austin had to lay on the ground lol. Now we are planning our wedding, and we can’t wait to start another chapter in our lives as husband and wife. We can’t wait to share another special moment with all of you. Stay tuned! Thanks for reading our stories.

I planned our wedding completely. Well almost, I let him pick out where we were getting married, the food, and honeymoon. =) I had a great time planning my wedding. I have a year and a half to plan out wedding so I shopped a lot he year before so the stuff would be on sale. Pinterest, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and Etsy were my new best friends. Never paid full price for wedding decor and gifts. Thanks to our families we were able to have a nice wedding. Our venue being the most expensive. Everything else was less than $5,000.
