A few months ago, we teamed up to give one of the amazing couples in our community a free engagement video in Brooklyn Bridge Park!

The film was shot by Canvas and Light plus we gave them a dream wardrobe (looking at you, Rent the RunwayBonobosChloe + Isabel, and M.Gemi!). Our good friends Stacie Ford and Mallory Pace even popped by on shoot day to do hair and makeup. Chloe told us she felt like a celebrity for a day, which is EXACTLY what we were going for, so basically, mission accomplished. :) We're so excited to share Chloe and Scott's stunning engagement film by Canvas and Light with you in honor of Valentine's Day. YAY LOVE. Watch the video below and read on for more about Chloe and Scott's proposal and video.

P.S. Want a dream wardrobe of your own? We got you! You can enter to win everything Chloe and Scott wore in their engagement video right here. So blessed.

The Engagement Video

Did you always want an engagement video?

We didn’t even know engagement videos were a thing before we did this. But there was something really special about the idea of a video documenting us at this really unique and special time in our lives, so we jumped on the opportunity.

What was it like to see your engagement vid for the first time? Now that you have it, what are you planning to do with it?

When we saw our video for the first time, we were completely overwhelmed. It is perfect in every way. It captures not only our first apartment together, but where we got engaged, and shows how much fun we have together and how much we love each other. We both felt emotional to see it, and it made our wedding feel even more real! Now that we have it, we plan to watch it every day. Just kidding (maybe) but we will be putting it on our wedding website and probably showing it at one of our wedding weekend events.

What was the day of shooting with Canvas & Light like? What was your favorite part of the experience?

The whole LSTV and Canvas & Light team made us feel like celebrities for a day, yet it was easy and effortless. It felt like we were just hanging out with an old friend. Alex is unbelievable at what she does. She made us so comfortable, and we loved showing her around that special spot. Plus, it didn’t hurt to actually eat some lobster rolls halfway through the shoot. We felt so fancy, that afterwards we celebrated with steaks and martinis at Peter Lugers.

The Couple

How did you meet and fall in love?

We met in March of 2012 on a Spring Break cruise to the Bahamas. Though we went to rival schools, we had mutual friends and were introduced on that trip. We were friends for a long time before we started dating and eventually falling in love. We officially started dating in the Fall of 2013, and never looked back. We initially bonded over our mutual love for sushi, and consistently found ourselves coming back to each other to talk about great meals we had. As they say, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and I think that is definitely true!

Tell us about your proposal.

March 31, 2017 was probably the worst weather day we had in New York in a year. It was 30 degrees, torrential rain, crazy wind, just ugly. Scott had been in Boston for work, and I was preparing to go away the following Monday for a week with work also. I was coming down with a cold, and pretty stressed about the whole thing. Scott had planned for us to have a special date that night in anticipation of his busy season at work a few weeks prior, and he said the rest of the details would be a surprise. He had done something like this before, so I didn’t think anything of it. He told me to bring a dress and heels to work, as we’d be going somewhere nice for dinner. I threw a short dress and open toed shoes in my bag the night before, too stressed to check the weather forecast. Despite my frustrated texts to him about the weather and not feeling well, he never offered to reschedule, so I had to go. He said he would pick me up in an Uber at 6pm at my office, and as 6 was nearing, I was completely losing it. I didn’t want to go out in this weather, I didn’t feel well, I didn’t get all of my work done prior to my trip before 6 p.m., I just didn’t want to go. And I was making that clear. On my way out of my office all dressed up, my colleague said, “What if Scott is proposing?!” and I said, “there is NO way he is proposing and if he is, it will be the biggest surprise of my life.” I was in a terrible mood.

As I was walking to the Uber, my umbrella flipped inside out and I was getting soaked, which just made me angrier. I hadn’t seen Scott in a few days, and when I got in the Uber, he said hi to me and leaned in to kiss me, and I said, “I’m going to need a few minutes.” As we started driving over the Brooklyn Bridge, Scott tried to say hi again, and I replied, “I said, I need a few minutes. This is the worst night for this I want to do nothing else this weekend I am so stressed out…” At this point, Scott starting freaking out and texted our families, “This is a nightmare.”

Finally, we pulled up to The River Cafe in Brooklyn, which is this beautiful, romantic restaurant on the river that I always have wanted to go to. I didn’t think anything else but, oh, he is taking me to the River Cafe, that’s nice. Like I said, I was in the worst mood. Scott said, “Actually, our reservation isn’t for a little while, so let’s go do something else.” And he starts walking. A while. In the pouring, freezing, windy rain. I start following him, open toed shoes and a mini dress and a coat, complaining and yelling the whole way. Before I could even realize where we were, Scott walked me right past the carousel, right in front of the Brooklyn Bridge and our neighborhood in Manhattan. It was raining so hard at this point that we were completely soaked. There were only two other people there, who I assumed were just tourists. Before I could realize what was going on, Scott said, “I brought you down here to ask you a question.” At this point, I blacked out – I can’t tell you what he said and he can’t either, but he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. And I replied, “Are you f&$% kidding me?!” It really was the biggest surprise of my life.

What's your favorite thing to do together on a random weeknight?

Try a new restaurant and eat something really good. We always order at least three things and create our own tasting menu.

What is your favorite thing about each other?

Scott about Chloe: Her ability to celebrate the small things.

Chloe about Scott: He is truly the most genuine and kind-hearted person I know.

What part of your wedding are you most looking forward to?

When they announce us as husband & wife officially. And when we finally hit the dance floor with all of our family and friends.
