Candace and Reuben’s wedding plans changed almost too many times to count. From venue changes to a global pandemic, this pair of project managers had quite the project to figure out to pull off their dream wedding in 2020, of all years. Their natural charisma and drive for achieving their dreams are what carried them through this incredibly stressful time. As we talked leading up to their wedding in Niagara on the Lake, we shared the stress and anxiety this year has brought. We hoped that this wedding would be a deep exhale after facing so many frustrations. I asked Candace what elements she and Reuben were most excited about for their wedding day, and she specifically told me about the following aspects.

Kurtz staff provided champagne for the guests during our ceremony for an in ceremony toast, immediately after the signing and as their officiant, Mike pronounced them Husband and Wife. Little did she know how excited she would be about that pronouncement, though!
Their first dance incorporated a bride and groom dance and dancing with the majority of each of their families. The first dance ended with a tribute to Candace’s brother with a blue smoke bomb going off in the second to last chorus before they came back together one last time to finish the song. And of course, the song HAD to be Love never felt so good by Michael Jackson!
They wanted to capture the ‘Old English Country’ feel of the Gracewood estate, so instead of the bridesmaids going all out with their dresses, the groomsmen were in plaid suits from Moores! Now, the bridesmaids’ dresses were by no means boring. Their black silk dresses from 1861 were stunning, too!
Now for the dinner and reception part. Candace and Rueben love breakfast. Some of their oldest memories together are meeting up for breakfast with all of their friends, which is why they went with a breakfast-themed menu for their reception. Their reception ended with a Speakeasy, a couched area reminiscent of a French Speakeasy with matching soundtrack and decor to boot.

We’re well aware that planning a wedding during a global pandemic is a hell of a job, but honestly, Candace and Reuben absolutely crushed it. This celebration had many limitations placed on it, from every guest getting their temperature taken, no mingling allowed, and every element had to be seated. But the laughter, the fun, the meaningful moments, and the atmosphere well outweighed the limitations. Candace and Reuben, we’re so proud of what you pulled off, and we genuinely hope that this celebration was the deep exhale you were looking forward to. Congratulations to you both!
