Wedding Date on Oct 5, 2019

We started chatting online and decided to move the conversation offline to a speakeasy style bar in Seattle. Calvin arrived first and asked the bartender for a charging cord for his phone. He turned around at exactly the moment I walked in. We looked at each other and knew. This was it. When walking home that night, a quote from Carrie Bradshaw came to my mind. “Some people are settling down, some people are settling and some people refuse to settle for anything less than butterflies.” I definitely felt butterflies. Our wedding day was full of emotion. I wasn't out for most of my life and Calvin came out later in life. His son was his best man in our wedding. The day meant so much to me because for most of my life, I was afraid of coming out to many people--including my own family. I didn't think the day would be possible for so long for many reasons--including the legality of same-sex marriage in the United States. But the day was more than dream, it became a reality. All of our friends and family were there not only to support us but to celebrate with us. We could not have imagined a more beautiful day. Our advice to other couples: your big day is what you make of it. Investing the time to plan details, sync with your vendors, and build the elements to your ceremony is worth all of that effort. Be sure to make all of the moments of your big day count, because it's true--when you look back, it's all a blur. That's why it was important for us to work with our cinematographers to produce a memorable highlight video and a documentary style video for us to look back on to help us remember our big day. To other couples thinking about investing in a highlight video--if you have budget available, definitely consider it.
