ATTN. everyone who has ever used a dating app with no success: Jason and Wesley's love story is here to inspire you. Just as Wesley was about to delete Tinder, her friends convinced her to go on ~one more~ first date. That's how she met Jason, and they've been together ever since. Jason and Wesley were married at an absolutely gorgeous barn in Delhi, New York. We're especially obsessed with Wesley's one-of-a-kind wedding dress. Wesley's mom, a talented designer, made her daughter's wedding dress from vintage lace that she'd secretly been saving for 15 years. (So sweet, I know.) Watch Jason and Wesley's video by AJ Ingolia Films and read on for Wesley's best advice for future brides.

The Love Story

How did you meet and fall in love?

Jason and I met on Tinder. I had been on the app for only a short while and was already fed up. I told my girlfriends I was going to cancel the apps but they told me I had to go on one date with one of the guys I had been speaking to. I chose Jason. We went on a first date and have been together ever since.

Tell us how the proposal happened.

It was Jason’s birthday so I was certain he wouldn’t propose on that day. I asked him where he wanted to go for dinner and he chose a popular restaurant in the West Village in New York City that didn’t take reservations. We showed up and they told us it would be a two-hour wait. We went to another restaurant on that street and they, too, said it would be a long wait. It turns out Jason went to both restaurants earlier that day and told them to, under no circumstances, seat us. At that point Jason coyly mentioned that Casa La Femme (the restaurant where we went on our first date) was just around the corner. What a coincidence, right?! :) We arrived and the entrance was lined with rose petals. Jason proposed to me at the same table where we sat on our first date. After I said yes, the waiter came over and told me to follow him. He lead us to the back of the restaurant and pulled back a curtain and behind it were both of our families and our best friends waiting to celebrate with us. It was the greatest executed surprise of my life and the best day ever!

The Wedding

Tell us about something that was creative or unique to your wedding.

My parents are both musicians and they performed together during my cocktail hour and got the whole place dancing.

Describe the moment from your wedding day that stands out to you the most.

The moment when the large barn doors opened leading to the ceremony site as I began to walk down the aisle. I remember when the doors opened, the view of Jason waiting down by the chuppah with the gorgeous green mountains in the background took my dad’s (and my!) breath away. We looked at one another with misty eyes and then took the walk of a lifetime together. I’ll never forget that moment.

How did you find your wedding dress? Who designed it and how did you know it was the one?

My mother is a clothing designer so I always knew she would make my wedding dress. However, when I got engaged, she told me that she had been saving vintage lace for over 15 years without me knowing it. My dress was the most beautiful thing I have ever worn and it’s even more special knowing it was made specifically for me by my own mother.

What made your wedding feel extra special to you and your partner?

The wedding process was tough because we were trying to please everyone and failing miserably. Jason and I finally decided that we just needed to focus on what we wanted and stay true to ourselves. We had tons of lawn games, s’mores and a live bluegrass band which felt laid back and true to us and what we love. In the end our wedding was perfect because we kept things simple and fun, just like our love.

How did you find your filmmaker and what made you choose them?

My best friend got married six years ago and used AJ Ingoglia as her videographer. I was no where near close to getting married but I knew that when I found my person, I sure as hell was going to hire AJ. He was the first vendor I booked and it was the best decision I ever made.

What is your favorite moment from your wedding film?

I don’t think I can choose just one favorite moment. I watch my film every day still, and each time I do, I find another favorite moment I never noticed before.

What do you think the \"secret sauce\" to your relationship is?

Laughter. If you can’t laugh together, what’s the point?

Tell us the No. 1 piece of wedding planning advice you wish you would have known.

It will be the most perfect day of your life no matter what you do. The flowers, food, décor, all seem to melt away and you can’t help but keep staring at your new partner, surrounded by all of your favorite people in the world, and wonder how the heck you got this lucky. My advice is to keep calm and try not to sweat about the small stuff. In the end, none of it matters.
