Wedding Date on May 26, 2019

Ayo & Folake both attended the same University (Bucks New Uni) in High Wycombe. Their first real interaction was at a FIFA Tournament. Folake was unknowingly cooking away with her friend Lynette, when a few (many!) friends arrived at the house along with Ayo ready to eat and play Fifa through the night! Ayo immediately had eyes on Folake. Shortly after, they became friends writing coded messages on their Facebook statuses. Before Folake could even blink they were in a relationship! Folake is adamant that Ayo didn't actually show any signs of liking her or 'moving to her'. Their first date / not date was at the cinema to watch 'Kick Ass' where Ayo sat on his hands and barely reached over - even for some popcorn! But Ayo insists it was all part of his major plan. Looks like the plan worked! From young teenagers to full-fledged adults, we have stuck together through all life has had to throw at us and thank God for bringing us together, and cannot wait to do LIFE together. We welcome you to join us in celebration of this long-awaited day! To many people Fola and I have been together for an eternity and it's been a long time coming, however we both had a lot of growing to do as we got together at a young age... For the past 3 years I've always flirted with the idea of proposing. From the moment I met Fola I knew she would be my wife, so being 'ready' was never in question. It was always one of those things I would say "when I have x amount" or "when I finally do x" then I know it's time to propose, but you realise that time never comes because there is always something else to chase. Fast forward to April 2018, I woke up and sent a WhatsApp message to my Best Man, Harold, saying, "bro I'm going to propose." He laughed it off, almost dismissing it, thinking I meant in the near future. By 12pm I was sending him links to different rings and said after our gym session that day we are going to look at more rings at the shopping centre - he couldn't believe it! Anybody who knows Fola knows she's been very picky about what type of ring. She even had a folder on her phone called 'Sparklers' so that meant that there was an insane amount of pressure to deliver. Time to call in reinforcements, Fola's Maid of Honour, Ashanti. Fortunately for me, a mutual friend of Fola & Ashanti was planning to propose so Ashanti managed to drag Fola along to go ring shopping. From there, we managed to get all the information needed and our search intensified until we finally found 'The One'. Myself and Harold were having a birthday party on Saturday 2nd June. I decided that I would propose the day after, because I would already have a haircut etc. Ashanti spoke to Honey, to help clear Fola's schedule. Everything was going to plan. At least I thought... Harold's partner, Michelle, was trying to convince Fola to take myself & Harold out for a meal to celebrate privately. A dress up dinner. Then, the plan was that Harold would be 'ill', leaving only Fola and I to have the dinner. Fola was so against the dinner, but eventually she gave in. I went to the proposal location (Victoria Dock) dressed in my finest attire for dinner. I told Fola to meet me there and we would go from there. I then called shortly after and told her Harold was ill and can't make it, expressing my annoyance at being so dressed up for basically no reason. Fola was also running late (as usual) so I told her the reservation has been cancelled. She said she will meet me where I am and we'll go from there. She met me and saw how dressed up I was and felt bad. I said I've booked another restaurant close to my house so let's just go for a walk and buy time. She offered to change into her nice clothes to compensate and so I don't look like an idiot. I said no it's fine, but eventually she did (Thank God). She changed everything but her heels (she kept on her Ten Toes sliders!) We walked and talked briefly until we got the spot Gogo (photographer) and I marked out on the grass. I stopped, turned around and gave her a hug. As I hugged her, my heart was PUNCHING and KICKING through my chest. Fola noticed immediately and asked if I'm OK, I said, "I need to ask you a question" The proposal photos pretty much tell the rest of the story! Part 2 I said we still need to go to the restaurant to eat, so we drove there. Gogo said he needs to meet Richard at my house (part of the plan), so I said we will drop him no problem. When we got to my house Gogo went inside. Fola had forgotten something in my house, so I told her to go inside and get it. As she went inside... "SURPRISEEEEEEEEEEE!!!" She was greeted by close friends and family. She couldn't believe it. Nor could I, everything went to plan perfectly. We ate and celebrated. And there is a possibility that I cried. Just a possibility.
