From The Bride:
Pat and I are high school sweethearts. I was a Junior and he was a Senior when we started dating. I always thought of him as the “cute upperclassman” but we never really interacted much. Then one semester we had a gym class together. Pat and I are both fairly competitive people. The lesson of the week was disc golf, not either one of our strong suites. Instead of focusing our attention on a game we were likely to lose, we focused our attention on each other. He officially asked me to be his girlfriend a few months later on the Fourth of July, with hand-dipped chocolate covered strawberries and my favorite flowers. We dated for 9 years, including long distance through college, before we got engaged. In June 2016, Pat took me on a surprise date to the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens, where he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We enjoyed a celebratory drink in downtown Ann Arbor before our dinner reservations he had made at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. We had a year of fun planning the wedding. Pat was pretty involved in the bigger aspects, such as the venue, menu, etc. while my Mom, Sharon DeLuca, and I did most of the detail planning. I have to give him credit for feigning interest in the little things too! Pat and I got married at Mills Race Village on May 13, 2017. It was every thing I’ve ever dreamed of. A beautiful, floral, spring wedding, surrounded by all of our family and friends. We enjoyed two amazing weeks in Hawaii for our Honeymoon and are looking forward to all the adventures to come!
