Our story began like all great love stories – in a bar 😉 About 4 ½ years ago Eric was working at a Buckhead restaurant/bar on Saturday nights for fun and extra cash, and my girlfriends and I lived around the corner (and frequented the bar more often than we’d like to admit). After some encouragement from a mutual friend who also worked there, we exchanged numbers. It took us a few months to go on our first date (to Surin in Virginia Highlands – still one of our favorites!), but once we did, the rest was history!

On March 16, 2017, I came home from working an event that Saturday morning and was ready to throw on sweats and lounge after a long week, but Eric had other plans. After some convincing on his part to get out and enjoy the beautiful day (my last job required a good bit of work outside of the regular nine to five – I was tired to say the least), Eric and I were on our way to Piedmont Park to walk around and “get some fresh air”. It wasn’t out of the ordinary for us to walk around Piedmont Park or go somewhere like Kennesaw Mountain on the weekends, so I truly thought nothing of it (my tie dye shirt and leggings were proof). After walking through the park for a bit, Eric wanted to go up to the top of a hill and sit down. Still absolutely clueless, I followed, but continued to stand as they were filming in the park that day and I was trying to figure out what it was (we *think* Strangers Things). When I realized he wasn’t going to get up anytime soon (still oblivious), I sat down beside him and he “popped the question!” It was all an incredible blur of emotions and I couldn’t believe it was happening! After soaking it in and making our excited phone calls to family and friends, Eric revealed he had a hotel and dinner booked that evening for us to celebrate “just us”. It was an absolute dream of an evening, and now we are getting married almost one year to the day of our engagement!

One of my favorite things about our relationship is how much we enjoy just being with each other. It doesn’t have to be fancy or adventurous, but can be as simple as sitting on our patio grilling dinner with a glass of wine, or days like our engagement when we get out of the house to just enjoy the weather – we truly love being in each other’s company and can’t wait for a lifetime of just that.
