We’re so excited to exclusively reveal Dave and Maggie’s wedding video by Garrity Powers! Watching their New Year’s Eve wedding film is like watching the best party of. all. time. πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ Read our interview with the couple below for more on their sweet love story and their best advice for couples planning a holiday wedding.

The Love Story

I first met Dave through mutual friends in the Summer of 2011 down the shore – Sea Isle City, New Jersey to be exact. I was immediately drawn to Dave’s outgoing and funny personality, but that initial introduction seemed to quickly pass us by and I kept my feelings to myself. It wasn’t until the following Fall when we were reintroduced one night that I decided I would speak up about my crush on him to a few of our friends. Our friends were quick to relay the message to Dave that I was interested in him and for the rest of the night, we were inseparable.

I was excited at the prospect of dating Dave – the funny, cute, outgoing guy I had met a few months prior down the shore – and I felt like I was being given a second chance to get to know him. I was even more excited when my friend told me that he had asked her for my number so he could ask me out – score! After a few days of waiting however, I started to get a little bit discouraged when I never heard from him. I asked my friend why he hadn’t contacted me and she said β€œHe did! You are going out this week!!” – News to me! Turns out, our friend accidentally gave him the phone number for another Maggie she knew and so he had inadvertently asked her out via text message. After a little bit of damage control and some awkward text messages things got sorted out though and on October 18, 2011 we went on our first date – the best and last first date of my life. Well worth the wait and confusion.

After that first date, it didn’t take long for either of us to realize that we were meant for one another. We spent all of our free time together, hanging out with friends and family, and soon it became clear to them that we were crazy about one another too.

We got engaged on July 3, 2016 underneath fireworks back down the Jersey shore where we first met years before and were married on December 31, 2017. Bringing in the new year with all of our closest friends and families still feels like a dream. Everything was beyond perfect.

The Wedding

Did you always know you wanted a New Year’s Eve wedding? What advice do you have for couples considering a holiday wedding?
When we got engaged, we had no idea when we wanted to get married – we both just knew we didn’t want to get married in the summer because neither of us do well in the heat – ha! A few friends suggested NYE, but most of the venues we looked at were already booked for then so we didn’t think it would work out. When we went and saw Blue Bell Country Club though we absolutely fell in love with it and they just so happened to still have NYE available so it felt meant to be! Advice for couples considering a holiday wedding would be to plan things early on. Due to the holiday a lot of businesses were closed the week in between Christmas and New Year’s, or they had other holiday obligations to tend to, so making sure that we had everything taken care of well before the madness of the holidays, although annoying, was well worth it in the long run. We were able to actually enjoy the week between Christmas and New Year’s which was nice (and unexpected).

Your dress is so gorgeous. Where did you find it and how did you decided it was ~the one~?
My dress was not at all what I went shopping for. I thought I wanted a lace dress with sleeves, and as you can see that is not what I ended up getting. I found it at Van Cleve Wedding Pavillion in Paoli, PA – the second bridal boutique I went to. I knew it was the one because it truly felt like a New Year’s Eve dress – classy, but also fun. It also helped that I had my maid of honor, mom, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law with me and their reactions really sealed the deal.

What were the most important elements to you when it came to your wedding, and how did you plan for them?
The most important element to us when it came to planning was the music. The music at a wedding can really determine the flow of the night and we wanted to make sure everyone had a blast. After checking out a few bands and meeting with a few locals DJs, we decided on EBE Talent to DJ/MC our wedding and they did a phenomenal job. They were able to include a good mix of music that everyone could enjoy. The dance floor was packed all night long – the sign of a good time.

What is your absolute favorite moment from your wedding video?
Dave: My favorite moments from the video are the countdown to midnight in the beginning and the dip during our first dance at the very end.
Maggie: My favorite moments from the video are all of the moments I didn’t get to see that day, such as the guys getting ready, and also our dog made an appearance in those scenes which I love.

How did you find your wedding videographer Garrity Powers, and what made you choose them?
We found Garrity through friends of ours, Kelly and Henry, who had him do their wedding video. Dave chatted with Garrity at their wedding, and a few weeks later I followed up with him to see if he would be available for New Year’s Eve. After seeing Kelly and Henry’s final video, we knew we made the best choice.

The Couple

What are you most looking forward to now that you’re MARRIED?!
Spending the rest of our lives together, and knowing that no matter what, we will always have a partner to depend on β€” through the good and the bad.

What is your favorite thing about each other?
Dave: My favorite thing about Maggie is her constant support and companionship.
Maggie: My favorite thing about Dave is his sense of humor and his excellent ability to cook.

Do you have a favorite date night or activity to do together?
Our favorite date night activity is cooking dinner together.

If you were to guess, where will you be and what will you be doing to celebrate your 10-year wedding anniversary?
If we had to guess, we will probably spend our 10-year anniversary doing exactly what we did for our honeymoon – a two-week cruise to the Caribbean.
