There’s a lot to love about Karen and Ryan’s whimsical Baltimore wedding, so you should definitely take a minute to watch their full film by Reflexion Videography below. Pay special attention to the gorgeous calligraphy spotted throughout. Inspired by her mother, Karen learned calligraphy to create her own wedding signs, like this gorgeous ceremony sign her flower girls held as they walked down the aisle:
IN LOVE. Read on for our interview with Karen to learn more about her wedding and passion for calligraphy.

How did you meet and fall in love?
We met at a high school dance freshman year.
What was the proposal like?
It was perfect! We went out for pizza, and then the Visionary Arts Museum in Baltimore. We went to senior prom there, and I love art, so it was a cool surprise for me. Ryan proposed on a walk afterwards on Federal Hill overlooking the city.
The first look moment Reflexion Videography captured is so sweet. What was going through your head when you saw each other for the first time?
I honestly don’t even remember! I was just so excited to see him.
How did you find Reflexion Videography, and what made you choose them?
I used to work for the Baltimore Orioles, and so did the owner of the company, so I discovered them through co-workers.
What is your favorite moment from your wedding?
Our vows. I cried and could barely speak. My three-year-old nephew was running up and down the aisle so he provided some comic relief.
You did all of the signage at your wedding, and then started your own calligraphy account after, which is amazing. Did you know you practice calligraphy before the wedding, or did you learn it on the fly? Have you done calligraphy for any weddings since your own?
I did! I didn’t really do much of it beforehand, but I was determined to do it myself. My mom used to do real calligraphy, so she inspires me. I haven’t done other weddings yet, but I’m hoping to!
You’ve been together since high school! What do you think the ~secret sauce~ to your relationship is?
We fully trust each other, understand and complement one another. It’s cheesy to say and I admittedly hate the use of this phrase, but we’re best friends.
What is your favorite thing to do together on a random weeknight?
Lately its binge watching Parks and Recreation. Weeknights usually involve Netflix after dinner and walking our dog.
What do you think is the most inspiring thing about each other?
I think we both encourage each other to be at our best, and live life to the fullest.
If you were to guess, where will you be and what will you be doing when you celebrate your 10-year wedding anniversary? I think we will have a few extras in our family, both human and fur :). Hopefully still slow dancing to Michael Kiwanuka and remembering to still make time for ourselves.
