Love Story

Kaley thought that she was starting her dream job at Disney, but little did she know something bigger was coming her way. In the place where “dreams come true,” Kaley and Rob found each other and fell in love! Grab a box of tissues and watch PurelyRuined Studios’ short film of Kaley and Rob’s fairytale wedding. If you want more details about Kaley and Rob’s love story, Kaley’s interview shares it all bellow!

The Love Story
In August of 2012, both Robert and I did the Disney Internships program in Orlando, Florida. Robert is originally from Pennsylvania and I am from Texas. While down in Florida, we were both assigned to work at the same Disney park: Animal Kingdom. We initially met at a training class called merchantainment and we hit it off. We exchanged phone numbers, and for the entire duration of our Internship program, we dated. After the program ended, he went back to PA, and I went home to TX. We continued dating, and saw each other whenever possible (holidays, summer break, etc.) After dating long distance for 3 years, in 2015, Robert made the move to Texas and the rest is history.

How did you decide on a Disney theme for your wedding, and what helped you bring that vision to life?
Having Disney elements was important to us because Disney had such a huge influence in our relationship. Not only is that where we met, but it is also where Robert proposed. On December 30, 2015 Robert proposed at Cinderella’s castle. When it came to planning the wedding, the thought of having a wedding at Disney World did cross our minds. However, we chose to have the wedding in Dripping Springs so we could celebrate with our family and friends. While Robert and I both love Disney, we knew that we wanted to incorporate it with subtle details. Pinterest and the Disney brides Facebook page really helped me bring my Disney vision to life. I found ideas for our cake, photos on my bouquet, wedding favors, and the other Disney elements on these websites.

How did you find your videographer and what made you choose them?
We found Ryan and Holly on the knot website. Not being from Austin, it was difficult trying to contact and meet with videographers. Holly and Ryan were the third videogprahers we met, and we knew instantly they were the ones for us! There was something about both Ryan and Holly that Robert and I instantly connected with. They were genuinely interested in our love story, and we had so much in common with them also! We are so happy that we chose Ryan and Holly to be part of our special day.

What was the most unexpected part of your wedding day?
The most unexpected part of our day was during our first look. Robert is the type of guy that loves to laugh and play jokes. As I walked behind him for the first look, little did I know that he had a surprise for me in his pocket. As he saw me, he popped a confetti popper in my face! I was shocked and could not believe he had done this on our wedding day! It is a great memory to reflect on now, but it was not the reaction I was hoping for.

What was your favorite part of your wedding journey?
As a couple, our favorite part of the wedding process was our cake tasting! We had never done a cake tasting before and we loved every second of it! We loved it so much, we did it twice! We also really loved working with our planner Kristen Lloyd at The Terrace Club. She was beyond anything we could have ever asked for in a planner. For the entire duration of our wedding planning, she made sure that we were stress free and were enjoying being engaged. She ensured that our wedding would be perfect for us, and it was.

What’s your #1 piece of advice for future brides?
On the day of the wedding, do not stress and enjoy the day because it goes by very quick! Also, make sure you plan accordingly. We had 18 months to plan, and we still felt it wasn’t enough time. As a couple, prioritize the types of vendors you want to have at your wedding. It’s important to sit and discuss things that you value and want to have for the day of the wedding.
