From The Groom:

It all started almost 7 years ago when my best friend, Caitlin, begged me to go out one college night. I honestly wasn’t really in the mood to go out, but she was in town from College Station and wanted to go see Willie Nelson perform at Billy Bob’s. After listening to a few of Willie’s songs, we ended up running into a few people from our high school and, through a mutual friend, I was introduced to George. He soon asked me to dance and from then on, it was history. I think we went to Billy Bob’s almost every weekend from that point on (even two days in a row sometimes) to see each other and dance the night away. Funny thing is, we both went to the same elementary, middle and high school together but didn’t know each other. He was a year older than me and actually knew my cousin, Darlene, before I even met him. And George’s sister, Andrea, and my cousin, Darlene, used to play softball together in high school. Dating for 7 years, we have gone through many stages of life together and have grown through it all. From late college nights to becoming adults and starting careers. George is in the wedding industry (his team filmed our wedding), and we wanted a smaller wedding so we knew a destination wedding would be best. We looked at Hawaii first since it was our first trip together as a couple but unfortunately was pretty impractical for our vision. We then checked out Mexico, the Texas Hill Country, Colorado and the normal Florida spots. One of George’s clients suggested a small lesser known island in Florida, Sanibel Island. We looked it up and booked a flight to visit the island exactly a year before our wedding date. We instantly fell in love with Sanibel, and would describe it as a mini “Hawaii”. Little did we know that my Aunt Kathy’s (our officiant) parents used to live there! To top it off while were we taking a few “engagement” pictures of ourselves on the beach, we ran into and met Nikki Mayday, who we would later book as our photographer. Once we found our venue and our amazing coordinator Tiffany everything else all fell into place.
