Bride Stuns As She Walks Down The Aisle In Her Mother’s Wedding Dress July 7, 2017

Love Story

We can’t stop watching Edna and Ben’s wedding. They managed to pack all the magic of Christmastime into their gorgeous day — you can’t help but get that warm holiday feeling watching their stunning film. Our favorite part about their day, though, is how absolutely stunning Edna looks walking down the aisle to Benjamin in her mother’s wedding dress from the 1980s. Watch their wedding video by OUTRÉ CINEMA, and read our interview with the bride, where she talks more about her decision to honor her mom by wearing her dress on the big day.

How did you and Benjamin meet and fall in love?
Ben and I first met while serving together on various teams at our church Shoreline City in Dallas, Texas. We each had crushes on each other off and on (without knowing it) until Ben finally decided to ask me out 🙂 We started dating in August 2015 and got engaged three months later!
Your dress is beautiful! We heard it was your mom’s – can you tell us a little bit more about it and your decision to wear it on your day?
The dress I wore was my mom’s wedding dress from the 80s! I happened to try it on just for fun one day after I got engaged… and I knew my search was over! I tend to follow in her footsteps (I am a nurse because of her), so this was just another way I could honor her.
What was the overall theme and vibe of your wedding, and how did you come to that decision?
We wanted our wedding to feel like church at Christmas time. It was very important for both of us that our guests were given the opportunity to have an encounter with the love of Jesus during our ceremony. We had Christmas carols on the violin, evergreen garlands/wreaths, and a worship song at the beginning…. just like at the start of our services at church!
How did you find your wedding videographer and what made you choose them?
Andrea, our wedding videographer, actually found us! She had seen our engagement photos through a mutual friend, and reached out to us asking if we would allow her to document our day. We loved her heart behind why she’s does what she does, so we are so very glad she chose us!
What was the most unexpected thing about your wedding day?
The most unexpected thing about our wedding day was the Texas weather! The day started out in the low 80s (unusually hot for December, definitely not ideal for a “Christmas wedding” haha). But God definitely has a sense of humor. By the time we were set to go outside for pictures the temperature had dropped into the high 20s! There were even rumors of snow flurries as our guests were leaving for the evening.
What was your favorite thing about the wedding journey?
Planning and creating a day with the person I love the most. It was tons of fun brainstorming together and learning about what we both felt would make the most perfect day. Our number one desire stayed constant throughout the whole journey…for everyone to know that Jesus loves them.
And lastly, your #1 piece of advice for future brides:My #1 piece of advice for future brides besides enjoy every moment of the day (even the hiccups) …. is to place your wedding AND your marriage in the hands of Jesus.
